The sporadically united rockers of At The Drive-In have announced that they’re canceling the last four stops on their recent reunion tour. The announcement—reported on by Pitchfork—comes after a series of canceled shows in New York and Washington D.C., reportedly owing to vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala losing his voice and attempting to prevent damage to his vocal cords. The band posted a message on its Facebook page, apologizing to fans, and promising to make up the missed dates at some future time.
This latest tour—announced back in January—is actually At The Drive-In’s second reunion tour, after a similar effort in 2011 and 2012. The band originally broke up in 2001, while at the height of their popularity and critical success. Bixler-Zavala and guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López went on to form The Mars Volta, while bassist Paul Hinojos, drummer Tony Hajjar, and Jim Ward—who was previously announced for the latest tour, but who dropped out shortly before it began—created the more traditional rock band Sparta.
