At The Drive-In says their reunion is partly for money, will probably be awkward

We've all gotta make ends meet somehow—and for Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, that means playing two weekends at Coachella with the recently reunited At The Drive-In. The ATDI guitarist has admitted that the band’s reunion is partly for nostalgia and partly for money, according to NME. “We're not getting any younger and there's been an offer of money every year,” Rodriguez-Lopez said. “You can't avoid that. You'd be a fool and politician to pretend that wasn't part of it.”

Rodriguez-Lopez also told NME that things were “going to be weird” at the reunion. “It's like getting back with your ex-wife, only in this case there are four ex-wives!” Dismissing talk of any new material, Rodriguez-Lopez told Kerrang!, “At The Drive-In is more of a nostalgia thing. It’s songs we wrote when we were all in our 20s, and we're doing a couple of shows.”

As for those “couple of shows,” Rodriguez-Lopez and At The Drive-In will play Coachella in April and then appear at July's Benicassim Festival in Spain alongside Crystal Castles, New Order, Bat For Lashes, The Vaccines, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Miles Kane, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Florence And The Machine. [via Spin]
