Atlas Genius makes friends with its enemies

Anchored by brothers Keith and Michael Jeffery, Atlas Genius’ signature electronica-focused rock has a way of feeling familial. Though it has been three years since its debut, on August 28 the band will release Inanimate Objects, which sees the Australian act delving further into the sounds found on that first LP. The A.V. Club is premiering “Friends With Enemies” from Inanimate Objects below. The track finds the brothers Jeffery designing a chorus so massive that it makes for a track that feels bigger than its component parts, with danceable moments in each new layer. And as Keith Jeffery explains, “This song is about thespians, and the despair found in hindsight.”
