Attention, citizens: A Judge Dredd TV series is in the works
Judge Dredd will hit the crime-ridden streets of a futuristic dystopia once more, but not in the sequel Dredd star Karl Urban’s been hankering for, more’s the pity. Entertainment Weekly reports there’s a live-action TV series in development at indie studio IM Global and games developer/publisher Rebellion. The project hasn’t been picked up by a network just yet, but according to EW, it’s titled Judge Dredd: Mega City One, and will be set in “a future where the East Coast of the U.S. has become a crowded and crime-ridden megalopolis.” Instead of a lone “incorruptible” Judge, though, Mega City One will center on a whole team of Judges “as they deal with the challenges the future-shocked 22nd century throws at them.”
Battlestar Galactica’s Mark Stern is executive producing with IM Global Television CEO Stuart Ford, and Rebellion owners Jason and Chris Kingsley, who served as EPs on 2012’s Dredd along with Ford. Not having a network hasn’t stopped the team from putting together a promotional poster for Judge Dredd: Mega City One, though.
