Attorney General demands another season of The Wire

Most people who’d like another season or two of HBO's The Wire are limited to posting wishful comments on the Internet, or making desperate entreaties of David Simon as he barely tolerates another audience Q&A. But most people aren’t the U.S. Attorney General, and the one person who is, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, just used the power of his office to demand that Simon and Ed Burns get back to work on the streets of Baltimore. Holder appeared on a panel with former Wire actors Wendell Pierce, Sonja Sohn, and Jim True-Frost intended to draw attention to protecting children from drug abuse and trafficking, and used scenes from the show to illustrate their point. After the clips were done, Holder got down to business, saying, “I want to speak directly to Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon: Do another season of The Wire. That’s actually at a minimum.… If you don’t do a season, do a movie. We’ve done HBO movies. This is a series that deserves a movie. I want another season or I want a movie. I have a lot of power Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon.” Emboldened by Holder’s show of authority, Vice President Joe Biden began to assemble his Save $#!* My Dad Says Task Force. [via Reuters]
