ATX Television Festival adds Rick And Morty, Empire, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll

The fourth annual ATX Television Festival is little more than a month away, and the nation’s premier event for fans of TV, breakfast tacos, and eating breakfast tacos near TV stars continues to fill out its lineup. As announced via press release today, this year’s programming will include an inside look at Adult Swim’s Rick And Morty (at a presentation with co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland helpfully—and hopefully not literally—titled “Inside Rick And Morty”) and a discussion with the creative braintrust behind Fox’s Empire (naturally titled “Empire: The Creatives,” though we would’ve also accepted “Drip Dropping In With Danny Strong And Ilene Chaiken.”) FX, meanwhile, will host screenings of its upcoming summer comedy slate, including the world premiere of Denis Leary’s getting-the-band-back-together series Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll.

Other shows being previewed at this year’s festival—which runs from June 4 through 7th in Austin, Texas—include the second season of El Rey’s From Dusk Till Dawn adaptation and Teachers, the new TV Land sitcom from 2nd Annual 26th Annual Comedy Festival-featured improv troupe The Katydids. Of course, ATX Festival has The Katydids as well as a Gilmore Girls reunion, a tribute to James L. Brooks, and events spotlighting The Simpsons, Dawson’s Creek, Hannibal, Justified, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, so we understand if you have to choose one festival over the other. Though The A.V. Club will be attending both ATX and the 26th Annual Comedy Festival, so it’s not like you have to choose.
