Aubrey Plaza, Oliver Platt, and Jeff Goldblum join the Johnny Depp-starring Mortdecai
A host of new actors just hopped onboard David Keopp’s upcoming comedic caper film Mortdecai, starring Johnny Depp. Lionsgate has announced that Aubrey Plaza, Oliver Platt, and Jeff Goldblum have all joined a cast that already includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Munn, and Paul Bettany. The film centers on eccentric art dealer Charlie Mortdecai as he struggles to recover a stolen painting, which supposedly contains the code to a bank account with Nazi gold. The adaptation of author Kyril Bonfiglioli’s trilogy is shaping up to split the difference between Depp’s surely hammy, CGI-heavy performance in Rob Marshall’s film version of Stephen Sondheim’s Into The Woods and his much darker turn in Wally Pfister’s directorial debut, Transcendence. At the very least, it certainly sounds more solid than the last time Depp bumbled through Europe in The Tourist.
