Audiences for Hung debut disproportionately large; HBO extremely satisfied with show's performance

Variety reports that the Alexander Payne-directed debut episode of Hung, the well-received new show about a teacher with a cock that’s alternately like the neck on a giraffe, an elephant’s trunk or a large human penis, snagged nearly three million viewers despite starring Thomas Jane. That’s the biggest debut audience for an HBO show in two years. It looks like Kenny fucking Powers is no longer the biggest dick on HBO.

Other big cable ratings winners this week include the Michael Jackson-heavy BET Awards, which drew its highest ratings ever, and Jon & Kate Plus 8, which was watched a staggering ten and a half million rubberneckers looking for a cheap holiday in other people’s misery.
