We’re getting ready to kick off a new season of A.V. Undercover, and as usual, we need your help. But before we get to the song suggestions, I wanted to share some background on the revival so far, as well as what it will look like this year. As you probably noticed, season nine wasn’t as fulsome as previous installments. The spirit was willing, but the recording space was lacking: Unlike during the original run of the series, we no longer have a dedicated studio (no round or even square rooms). That, along with things you just can’t plan for, like natural disasters, made it much more difficult to produce a standard season.
For the landmark 10th season of A.V. Undercover, we’re changing tacks. We’re bringing back 10 previous Undercover artists, who will pick from a list of 10 songs—to be determined, in part, by you, the readers—with each performance narrowing down the number of options available to the next band/performer. The call for songs will work just as in the past, though: Start a new comment (important: do not just reply to someone else’s) with your suggestion. If you want to make multiple suggestions, just make multiple comments (we all love doing that, right?). Then show your support for others’ picks by upvoting them. We’ll finalize the 10 songs based on the most popular suggestions in the comments section and some of our own picks, and share the list with you in early May.
Here’s a (hopefully) fun twist: I’m also looking for your suggestions on who should reprise their time on A.V. Undercover. Please post separate comments for the bands/performers you’d like to see return, and we’ll see what we can do about getting them in the lineup. While we will be revisiting history with the lineup this season, we aren’t as keen on repeating the artists who are being covered.
