GWAR kicks off A.V. Undercover season 9 with unique take on Barbie's "I'm Just Ken"

When we first teased the return of A.V. Undercover after seven years on Twitter, asking who should kick off season 9, our friends over at Consequence suggested GWAR cover “I’m Just Ken.” We responded, “We’re down if @gwar is.” It turned out that, in fact, GWAR was.
The interplanetary warriors had just bloodied up the crowds at Bonnaroo and were able to join us at Second Take Sound in Midtown Manhattan. Inspired by a “prurient interest in Ryan Gosling,” the alien musicians completely reworked the anthem from Greta Gerwig’s Barbie to make it their own. “We’re Just GWAR,” Blöthar the Berserker sings, while trashing boring metal bands and everyone else not worthy of their shredding dominance. Gosling’s Grammy moment has nothing on this.
