Ava DuVernay's Central Park Five Netflix series gets a searing new trailer

In 1989, a group of Harlem teenagers were coerced into confessing to the rape and assault of a Central Park jogger, serving years in prison before being retroactively exonerated. The response to the incident was the kind that, for a spell, yanks the mask off of America’s deep undercurrent of racism, with none other than Donald Trump having led calls to reinstate the death penalty for the boys. Ken Burns made a documentary about it in 2012, and now Selma’s Ava DuVernay is bringing her own version to Netflix.

Following a teaser last month, the streamer has now released a full trailer for the four-part series, which will span the 25 years between the crime, the exoneration, and the settlement they eventually reached with the city of New York. Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Korey Wise star alongside Michael K. Williams, Vera Farmiga, John Leguizamo, Felicity Huffman, Niecy Nash, and more.
