It's Doomsday for the AMC Theaters app as Avengers tickets go on sale

The AMC's app keeps on crashing, making it nearly impossible to secure Doomsday tickets in advance.

It's Doomsday for the AMC Theaters app as Avengers tickets go on sale

It often feels like anyone who uses the AMC Theaters app is a glutton for punishment. Or, at least, it feels that way whenever tickets for highly anticipated blockbusters go on sale, causing the app to crash as it can’t handle the overload of users trying to secure seats. It happened with The Odyssey, it happened with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and it even happened with Supergirl. And now, it’s happening again because tickets for Avengers: Doomsday went on sale today. Do something, Nicole Kidman!

Users are obviously documenting their awful experiences on social media, posting that the AMC Theaters app won’t even stay open, let alone give people a chance to wait in a long, Ticketmaster-esque queue to make a purchase (as it has in the past). This writer has also tried to open it several times, not to buy Doomsday tickets, but to make sure the app works to access other already-purchased tickets. If the app does open all-too-briefly, none of the showtimes pop up for any movies. Perhaps you’ll have better luck over on Fandango or any other sites that haven’t completely given up. But if you’re an A-List member, then remember that patience is a virtue.

Avengers: Doomsday, meanwhile, doesn’t even come out for another four months. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film brings Robert Downey Jr. back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this time as Victor Von Doom and not Iron Man. Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth reprise their roles as Captain America and Thor, and they’re joined by actors from The Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts*, Black Panther, and Shang-Chi. The movie releases on December 18, at least for those who’ve managed to get a ticket.
