Avengers: Infinity War finds its writers
In case you were worried that Marvel movies still three or four years away from being released weren’t going to have writers, but instead would just be Kevin Feige laughing and lighting Fabergé eggs on fire, fear no more. Badass Digest reports that Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have been hired to script the two-part Marvel movie event Avengers: Infinity War, due to be released in May 2018 and 2019.
Despite having a combination of last names suggesting they would be better suited to running a madcap candy emporium, the two will actually end up shouldering a fair amount of responsibility for the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. The duo has already scripted the first two Captain America films (as well as the third one, which just began filming this month) and Thor: The Dark World, not to mention creating and writing the pilot for Agent Carter. As such, they should be well prepared to take on the task of gathering pretty much every character the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever referenced and throwing them against Josh Brolin’s Thanos and his wildly unstylish Infinity Gauntlet. (“Form follows function,” he’ll presumably say at some point, while instructing a group of superpowered heroes on the value of Le Corbusier.)
What this also means is that there’s no danger of the Marvel films becoming less entangled with each other. Given that the Russo brothers are also directing the Infinity War films after Captain America: Civil War, look forward to a lot of Blu-ray commentary tracks by this creative team, saying things like, “Well, as anyone who saw the fleeting shot of Starfox at the 35:42 mark of the last film knows…”
