Awful Things Grey's Anatomy Is Responsible For: 1. This photo

I don't know what the dialogue was for this scene, but I imagine it was pretty close to:

"I McLove you!"

"I McLove you more!"

"McBubble bath?"

"Mc Mc Mc!"

(scene)

Have you ever seen two people try to convey a 12-year-old girl's idea of romance more? I bet if they panned out the floor would be littered with rose petals, chocolate-covered strawberries, and an obscene amount of flickering votive candles.

2. This cover.

I'm pretty sure that

TV Guide meant to write "The McSexy Issue," because any time a Grey's Anatomy cast member graces a cover, the magazine is contractually obligated to make at least one "Mc" reference, no matter how off-putting and anger-inducing it is to people who don't watch the show.

See? Her "McDreamhouse." Evidently,

O At Home got the McMemo. 3. This T-Shirt

So, the most identifiable catch-phrase from

Grey's Anatomy, the phrase that is so recognizable to fans of the show that it merits being put on a t-shirt, isn't even a phrase at all, but a sad, declarative adverb? Seriously? I mean, seriously. 4. This show's ridiculously high ratings.

Because it follows Grey's Anatomy, the premiere episode of a show whose dramatic climax is someone yelling "You seem to have forgotten which side of October Road you belong on!" got great ratings. In fact, almost 14 million people were too lazy to turn off their TVs after Grey's Anatomy. 14 million!

Please, Grey's Anatomy watchers. You've foisted "Mc" references, countless "Patrick Dempsey is sexy" articles, and the skeleton of Ellen Pompeo upon the general public. Don't popularize a Bryan Greenberg vehicle named after the most fake-sounding street in television history.
