What started as a joke between friends Eric Wareheim, Aziz Ansari, and Jason Woliner has become a new YouTube video series: Food Club finds the three funny dudes visiting their favorite restaurants while wearing sea-captain hats, and presenting special plaques to those that they find worthy. Clearly these guys are serious eaters, visiting an out-of-the-way banh mi spot as well as an underground L.A. supper club, but they also have fun giving each other shit. (Okay, mostly giving Woliner shit. Sorry for not mentioning you in the headline, Jason.) The first episode is live now, courtesy of Jash—the YouTube channel launched last year by Wareheim, Michael Cera, Sarah Silverman, and Reggie Watts. You can watch it below. In other Eric Wareheim news, he and his comedy partner Tim Heidecker just announced the release of a 12-inch single from their rocking alter egos, Pusswhip Banggang. June 24 will see the release of the super-deluxe “Jambalaya” single, which includes a “gatefold jacket with reverse-side printing on the boards, direct-metal mastered full color picture-disc with custom shape and insert with recipe included.” Check out the poster for the release (including three tour dates) below, along with the Food Club video.
