Baby Groot kills with cuteness in the first Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer

The first trailer for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is an immediate crowd-pleaser. See, for instance, the reprise of “Hooked On A Feeling,” signaling that the sequel isn’t going to skimp on the classic rock. There’s also some savvy, if deadpan, romantic advice from the irony-lacking Drax (Dave Bautista), and, if you watch all the way to the end, a brief appearance from tiny baby Groot (Vin Diesel), who now rides on Rocket’s (Bradley Cooper) back and makes precious cooing sounds.

The footage doesn’t divulge much of what our rapscallion heroes are up to, but it does indicate that perhaps Star Lord (Chris Pratt) is having some love-related trouble with Gamora (Zoe Saldana). Drax’s counsel: “You just need to find a woman who is pathetic, like you.” That Gamora is only discussed in the context of her relationship with a dude is curious, given that director James Gunn recently touted on Facebook that in the movie “we not only pass the Bechdel test, but run over it and back up over it again and again in an 18-wheeler truck.” So there’s that to look forward to, as well as an appearance from Kurt Russell as Star Lord’s pops.
