In the least welcome bit of
Dark Knight-related news since Heath Ledger's death, Batman actor Christian Bale turned himself in to police in London earlier today over allegations that he assaulted his mother and sister. He was held for four hours and released without charge, but will need to return later pending further investigation of an incident between Bale and his family at a hotel on Sunday. The actor, who was born in Wales, was in the U.K. to promote the release of The Dark Knight in Britain; he was allowed to attend the London premiere of the movie on condition that he voluntarily go in for questioning the following day. Bale denies the allegations.
