Band Of Horses frontman goes solo with terrible name, tour
Band Of Horses frontman Ben Bridwell is taking a short break from his main band this November to tour the South under the name Birdsmell, because that's the kind of band name you can have if you're already pretty sure people will pay to come see you anyway. Bridwell will mount a short tour with songwriter Bryan Cates as well as Archers Of Loaf bassist Matt Gentling, who he refers to in a press release as a "legitimate hype man," which makes sense in a way. With regard to his overall sentiment about Birdsmell, Bridwell said, "It was nice to not give a damn about anything," a sentiment that's not really reflected on the three Birdsmell songs (plus a Townes Van Zandt cover) he posted to Soundcloud. You can listen to them below, and the tour dates follow.
