Banksy’s Dismaland has a really eerie trailer
Everyone’s favorite anonymous graffiti artist Banksy recently announced the grand opening of his charmingly morbid theme park Dismaland. Filled with “art, amusements, and entry-level anarchism,” the limited-run attraction is a not-too-subtle jab at consumer culture and a certain high-pitched mouse’s house. While the park is considered “not suitable for small children,” social commentary is definitely fun for all ages (including fans of Run the Jewels, Pussy Riot, Kate Tempest, and Massive Attack, who will all be performing there).
With tickets already sold out for the next week, it’ll be nearly impossible for most to see the installation in person. The fact that it’s located in a beachside resort town in Somerset, England doesn’t help either. Luckily, for those who want an inside peek at Banksy and over 50 international artists’ work, “the U.K.’s most disappointing new visitor attraction” now has a promising trailer.
Come along and follow an everyday family on their magical journey to Dismaland as they explore a tattooed fetus in a microwave, disastrous incident involving a princess and her carriage, and figurine immigrants in the “English Channel.” Sure, it’s sinister on the surface, but the real lesson here is that kids would totally go to art museums if they looked more like this creepy amusement park.
