Barack Obama is also good at doing anniversaries

Ten months after relinquishing his role as president of the United States, Barack Obama is still hard at work. Now, instead of putting all his energy into championing a better healthcare system or going head-to-head with an obstructionist Senate, he’s just doing cool shit for his wife and making every other man in America look terrible by comparison. Yesterday, in honor of the couple’s 25th wedding anniversary, Barack Obama surprised his wife, Michelle, while she was speaking with Shonda Rhimes at the Pennsylvania Conference For Women in Philadelphia with an incredibly sincere video message.

“The idea that you would put up with me for a quarter of a century is a remarkable testament to what a saintly, wonderful, patient person you are,” said the ever-humble former commander in chief. Now, everyone knows that the 25th anniversary is traditionally the surprise-your-wife-at-a-conference-in-Philadelphia anniversary, but Obama really went above and beyond on this one. “Not only have you been an extraordinary partner, not only have you been a great friend… but you have also been an example to our daughters and to the entire country.”

Understandably, Twitter users were in awe of how this marriage has maintained itself after two and a half decades, and also how bad Barack Obama is making everyone else out here look.

Some people came to the unfortunate realization that the Obamas are basically the Platonic ideal of romance.
