Steven Page, lead singer of Barenaked Ladies, has left the band, Billboard is reporting. This development follows a July arrest for cocaine possession. Whether or not that played a role in Page's departure is unclear based on the chummy statements issued on both sides of the split. From Page:
These guys are my brothers. We've grown up together over the past twenty years. I love them and wish them all the best in the future.
Meanwhile, Barenaked's Ed Robertson refers to the split as "a really positive thing for all of us" in Billboard, where he also mentions plans to record an album for release this fall.
