Batkid Begins, the documentary about a little boy with leukemia who used his Make-A-Wish opportunity to teach us all about the healing power of vigilante justice—his cancer is in remission, so we’re allowed to make jokes—will be hitting theaters on June 26. The film will tell the story of how the entire city of San Francisco got together to transform itself into Gotham in order to help the kid (Miles Scott) see what it would be like to be Batman for a day. Paired with a “professional” adult Batman, Scott drove around the city in a Batmobile, beat up criminals (in a kid-friendly way), and rescued people in (kid-friendly) distress. Batkid Begins was written and directed by documentary filmmaker Dana Nachman, and you can see a trailer for it below.
Also, this project is not to be confused with the Batkid movie that Julia Roberts is making for some reason. That film will be a fictionalized version of the actual story, even though that seems totally pointless, cynical, and a bit greedy. But, whatever.
