Batman cosplayer breaks world record for gadgetry
Think you’re a major Batman geek? Sorry to tell you this, but your geekiness doesn’t even factor in comparison to Irish cosplayer and professional creature effects artist Julian Checkley, who so loves the brooding masked detective that he had his technicians help him devise the world’s greatest Batman suit. And “world’s greatest” is no empty praise. The team’s work—inspired by the suit worn by the superhero in the Batman Arkham video game—won them a place in the Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition 2017 for “Most Functional Gadgets On A Cosplay Suit,” Mashable reports.
“One of the first things we fitted was a video screen into one of the gauntlets,” Checkley explains in the video below. “Then we made a grapnel gun. It kind of spiraled along from there. It was getting silly, really.” The very silly final tally is 23 working gadgets, including a fireball shooter, an ultrasonic anti-dog device, and a Bat-flask (because those late night crime-fighting shifts can get kind of stressful).
Fun! Also weird. But still fun.
