Batman V. Superman trailer will supposedly premiere in Imax theaters on Monday

After a few agonizing years of casting announcements, dimly lit costume reveals, dour costume reveals, smoke-filled costume reveals, and mega serious costume reveals, it finally might be time for Warner Bros. to release an actual trailer for Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. That’s according to Variety, which reports that a theater in Michigan accidentally revealed that it will be holding a secret “Batman vs Superman Imax Trailer Event” on April 20—which is this coming Monday. Warner Bros. hasn’t made any official announcements yet, but Variety‘s mysterious sources say the trailer will be premiering in select Imax theaters on Monday, and not just this random one in Grand Rapids.

This fits a rumor that Latino Review posted yesterday, which claimed that Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Trailer director Zack Snyder would be posting five seconds of the teaser on his Twitter account on Thursday, with the full trailer coming on Monday. This would allow Snyder to steal some social media attention away from Star Wars Celebration—the big Star Wars thing happening this week—and it will let Warner Bros. attach the trailer to screenings of Avengers: Age Of Ultron, which would be a big and flashy move that fits perfectly with Snyder’s penchant for things that are big and flashy.

Assuming this is all true—which we will, because a tease for a teaser is exactly the sort of stupid thing that happens in Hollywood now—we would expect the full trailer to hit the internet at some point on (or before) Monday. If Snyder and Warner Bros. really want to make a statement, though, they’ll just release the full trailer tomorrow. Then we won’t have to waste time talking about a stupid tease for a teaser again. So, in conclusion, go buy tickets to your local Imax theater for Monday, or just keep reading The A.V. Club and we’ll post whatever trailers we feel like posting.
