Bauhaus' Peter Murphy arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, meth possession

Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy was arrested this weekend on suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run, and meth possession. The Glendale, California police pinched Murphy after he allegedly clipped a vehicle in his Subaru Forester Saturday night. Another driver saw the incident and phoned it in, tailing Murphy until the cops showed up.

Police say Murphy was “very confused” when they pulled him over and, according to the L.A. Times, “had difficulty recalling the day and time.” While Murphy said he hadn’t been drinking, he admitted to taking prescription pills for depression and said he was jet-lagged from a recent flight from Turkey. Cops also found a small plastic bag possibly containing meth inside the patrol car Murphy was being held in, though the singer denies it belonged to him.

As of Monday, Murphy was still in jail on $500,000 bail. No announcement has been made about the status of his upcoming 49-date, Bauhaus-centric tour.
