BBC America greenlights a new body-snatching show
BBC America will continue its recent domination of the sci-fi market with a new body-snatching original series called Intruders. The Hollywood Reporter describes the series as a “thriller” about a “secret society devoted to pursuing immortality by seeking refuge in the bodies of others.” Based on a novel by Michael Marshall Smith, Intruders is set in the Pacific Northwest and follows a retired cop named Jack Whalen who finds himself surrounded by a brutal murder and mysterious happenings. X-Files’ Glen Morgan will write and executive produce the series, with production slated to begin in early spring 2014. Intruders will presumably join Doctor Who and Orphan Black on “Supernatural Saturdays,” officially making BBC America the nerdy younger brother of PBS’ stodgy Masterpiece programming.
