BBC America's Nottingham to rob from the idea-rich, give to the television-poor
BBC America is developing a new, Wicked-style Robin Hood drama. Penned by Dracula creator Cole Haddon, Nottingham investigates what would happen if the Sheriff of Nottingham and Robin Hood were, in fact, the same person. The convoluted concept aims to present a new look at the classic hero/villain by miring him in soapy Game Of Thrones-esque drama.
According to Deadline, in Haddon’s script, the Sheriff’s wife is killed by one of King John’s men. When the accused man isn’t brought to justice, the Sheriff “launches a one-man war against the crown.” Though he spends his days defending the King, he spends his nights stealing from the royals and distributing the money to the country’s poor, “starting a rebellion that will change England forever.”
