Beatles time-travelin' comedy asks what would happen if John never met Yoko

Hollywood’s thirst for historical revisionism continues with the in-development comedy Get Back, which concerns two Beatles fans who discover a time machine and use it to travel back into the past to prevent John Lennon from meeting Yoko Ono, thereby ensuring Lennon becomes insufferable about something else and the Beatles will still bicker their way toward breaking up, but there would be no “Ballad Of John And Yoko” or Double Fantasy. And then maybe we all learn something. It’s currently being set up as a project for Mr. Popper's Penguins director Mark Waters—who’s becoming the go-to guy for high-concept hijinks after his work on films like Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past and Just Like Heaven—although something tells us the project will be stymied somewhat, considering Yoko Ono still has a controlling interest in John Lennon’s estate and may not be in a cooperatin’ mood with a film that essentially makes her out to be a bigger priority than, say, stopping Hitler.
