Beck sets new album for October

Two years after winning a Best Album Grammy for his last album, 2014’s Morning Phase, Beck has set an October release date for his next studio effort, Colors. Currently out on tour, Beck revealed the album’s imminent arrival during an interview with Rolling Stone, noting that he’s been working steadily on it for years now, and that, “I suppose the record could have come out a year or two ago.”

Beck is working on the album with Adele and Sia collaborator Greg Kurstin, injecting a “relentlessly upbeat’ vibe that’s evident in the album’s singles, like “Wow” and “Dreams”. Meanwhile, the RS piece also briefly touches on the most notable Beck moment of the last few years, when his Grammy win was interrupted by Kanye West, storming onto the stage to wax poetic about Beyoncé. “I’ve had some trippy things happen in my life,” Beck said, with what we have to think of as typically Beck-ian understatement. “But that was up there, for sure.”
