McDonald’s is not exactly most people’s idea of a destination restaurant. (Sure, when you’re young, those playgrounds could be fun, but just try and keep that up as an adult—did you know employees there are not shy about calling the police?) It’s more the place you pass through as quickly as possible, in order to not think about exactly what you’re putting in your body, food-wise. So it may be somewhat of a surprise to discover that, contrary to popular belief, all McDonald’s are not created equal. Mental Floss has put together a list of the 13 most unexpected and unusual McDonald’s locations around the world. The all-glass one in Batumi is impressive, as is the franchise found inside an airplane in New Zealand. But, honestly, China’s Guangxi Province probably wins the award for most amazing site: the side of a mountain.
