Believe it or not, Bruce Campbell will host a new Ripley's Believe It Or Not! show
Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! probably doesn’t have a lot of cultural cachet these days, possibly because the internet has allowed us all to become so interconnected with lost tribes in the rainforest and people with extremely long fingernails as it is that we don’t need to learn about them from a big coffee table book or a weird tourist attraction, but the Travel Channel is looking to change that. As reported by Deadline, it has ordered a new Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! TV show that will be hosted by Bruce Campbell, with this new show coming 70 years after the premiere of the first Ripley’s show on NBC.
According to the Travel Channel, the series—for which 10, one-hour episodes have been ordered—will “showcase the most astonishing, real, and one-of-a-kind stories” from all over the world. Now, just in case the Travel Channel doesn’t offer an appropriate warning: You should be aware that some of these astonishing stories may seem a bit hard to swallow, as it may seem impossible that someone could have fingernails that long, but Ripley’s couldn’t really care less if you accept that these stories are true. It’s not Ripley’s Believe It Or Else, so the onus is on you to decide for yourself whether to believe. Bruce Campbell probably won’t dig so deep into the dismissive nature of the title, but that would be a nice change of pace from the many other Ripley’s shows.
