On this week’s Film Club, a double feature of beefy Bostonians! First up, Film Editor A.A. Dowd and Staff Writer Ignatiy Vishnevetsky sit down to talk about Ben Affleck’s latest effort as a director-star, the 1920s gangster saga Live By Night. They then pivot to another new drama starring a homecoming Boston boy: Patriots Day, in which Mark Wahlberg reteams with Lone Survivor and Deepwater Horizon director Peter Berg for a dramatization of the Boston Marathon bombing. Both films go wide this weekend after limited-release runs in December. Find out why our film staff didn’t respond very positively to either.
