Ben Affleck comes to terms with the fact that he’s actually directing a Batman movie
In a recent interview, Ben Affleck was a bit wishy-washy when it came to the subject of directing a Batman movie. “It’s not a set thing and there’s no script,” he told The Guardian. “If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.” We understand his hesitation. So far the DCEU hasn’t been that good to Affleck. In fact, it’s made him very sad. Still, we were under the impression that The Batman—or whatever he wants to call it—was definitely happening with him at the helm. And guess what? Now he says it is. On Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, Affleck accepted his fate and acknowledged that, yes, he is directing a Batman film. He just wants everyone to chill about it.
Affleck explained that it took him a while to make his new project, Live By Night, but ”nobody gave a shit,” probably because it’s based on a Dennis Lehane book and not a beloved superhero property. “With Batman I keep on getting the like, ’Where’s the fucking Batman?’ I’m like, ‘Bro, I’m working, can you give me a second?’” he said, getting almost as worked up as he got that one time he talked about Deflategate. It seems all Affleck is asking for is patience, and if you give him that he’ll make your goddamn comic book movie.
