Ben Affleck continues to be a serious director of serious films—so serious that for his forthcoming retelling of the Iranian hostage crisis, Argo, he’s seriously planning to have his cast live together for two weeks in a single house to help them get in the proper claustrophobic state of mind. (Watch out, Blue Valentine’s Derek Cianfrance—you have new competition to be the “Captain Beefheart of cinema.”) While he hasn’t yet come up with any similar Method stunts for this one, Affleck’s next film sounds pretty serious as well: He’s set to direct an adaptation of Harlan Coben’s thriller Tell No One, the story of a pediatrician who’s implicated in first his wife’s murders and then several others, and which is absolutely spoiled for you in the Deadline article that announces it, so be forewarned. Of course, we suppose you can’t totally blame them, as Tell No One was already made into a film in 2008 by French director Guillaume Canet, and it found a receptive American audience. An audience who’s okay with reading subtitles, anyway, a problem that Affleck’s version will fix.
