Ben Stiller is making a Dodgeball sequel, something something dodge a wrench

Because there are so many needy orphan children out there, and so many hours on FX to fill, Ben Stiller has taken it upon himself to craft a sequel to 2004’s Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenplay duties have fallen to Clay Tarver, the former guitarist for Chavez and Bullet LaVolta who graduated from indie rock to filmmaking, beginning with creating MTV’s “Jimmy The Cabdrvier” interstitials (starring friend and former band tour manager Donal Logue) then moving on to co-writing Joy Ride with J.J. Abrams and working with Mike Judge, end Wikipedia referencing. Tarver will bring that eclectic résumé to concocting reasons for gym rivals Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller to team up to “fight an even bigger threat” than corporate expansion—such as, perhaps, the culture of lying that Lance Armstrong perpetuates in the first film, rendering all of Vaughn’s accomplishments meaningless. Or maybe it’s aliens.
