Confirming that the world is still round and Bethany Cosentino still lives in California, Consequence Of Sound reports that Best Coast is preparing to release its third full-length LP, California Nights. (Any resemblance to the late Lesley Gore’s 1967 single is presumably coincidental.) Dealing with such quintessentially Best Coast themes as international politics—just kidding, it’ll probably be about boys, cats, and weed—California Nights is Cosentino and her multi-instrumentalist bandmate Bobb Bruno’s first record on a major label, Capitol Records’ Harvest imprint. The record is due on May 5, just in time for “lounging by the pool” season.
