Bette Midler is going on tour for the first time in 10 years
Famed actress, chanteuse, and five-time Most Likely To Be Described As “Brassy” Award winner Bette Midler has announced that she’ll be touring next year for the first time in vber a decade. Midler will be performing in 23 cities across the United States and Canada to promote her new album, It’s The Girls!, a collection of covers of songs made famous by girl groups from the 1930s to modern times. The album’s first single, a cover of TLC’s “Waterfalls,” has reached No. 5 on Billboard’s Trending 140.
Besides being a multi-Grammy-winning singer and a celebrated actress, Midler also serves as a powerful nexus of ’90s nostalgia, appearing in the surprisingly durable Halloween romp Hocus Pocus and as herself on both The Simpsons and Seinfeld. Dedicated millennials may be disappointed when Midler’s touring performance ditches nods to the Macaroni Midler or her duet with Krusty the Clown in favor of covers of “Mr. Sandman” and “You Can’t Hurry Love,” but at least it probably won’t have any Parental Guidance references either.
