Beyonce and Jay Z are throwing a charity concert with some help from Tidal artists
Generous souls Beyoncé and Jay Z are throwing a glitzy concert for charity, according to the New York Post. Per the report, the Tidal event will take place October 15 at the Barclays Center, and will feature sets from not only Bey and Jay, naturally, but also Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and Lauryn Hill, who will probably have to close out the night. It will benefit the Robin Hood Foundation, which aims to combat New York City poverty, and organizations of artists’ choosing. The Post says tickets will start at $50, which, frankly, is pretty reasonable for such a high-profile bill. And, after all, you’ll be spending your money for good.
Last year, Jay Z threw a similar fête when Tidal seemed in the tank. At the time, The New York Times seemed confident that these charitable actions would become part of the artist’s repertoire: “At the end of the night, Jay Z said this would be the first in an annual series of charity shows, and the claim seemed both preposterous and inevitable. But he has backed up unlikely boasts before.” And, sure enough, here we are.
