Bill Cosby pretty sure he can go back to comedy after this “rape” thing blows over

If you’re a pessimistic Democrat wondering who could possibly be feeling hopeful after Tuesday’s election, well, here’s one example. According to a court motion filed by Bill Cosby’s lawyers yesterday in Massachusetts—where he’s facing several defamation suits from women who have accused him of sexual assault—Cosby is optimistic that he’ll be able to go back to his comedy career as soon as this whole “rape accusations” thing blows over.

“When Mr. Cosby is cleared from all liability and charges, and the impact of Plaintiffs’ defamatory conduct has subsided, he expects to resume his career, and there is no reason to believe otherwise,” Cosby’s attorney Angela Agrusa writes, in a motion objecting to a request for Cosby to disclose his business records as part of the suit. According to Agrusa, exposing the inner workings of Cosby’s financial dealings would be a blow from which he could never recover—unlike being accused of routinely sexually assaulting more than 50 women over the course of several decades, which is apparently only a temporary setback.

We’d like to make a comparison to another powerful man for whom assault is no big deal, but money is sacred, but it’s just too depressing. You can draw your own parallels below.
