Bill Cosby sort of tells his side of the story in day 4 of sexual assault trial

Naturally, his side of the story is pretty different from Constand’s, with Cosby emphasizing in the 2005 statement that the two of them “enjoyed a casual, consensual relationship” together, but he also admitted to giving her pills one night “after she complained about being unable to sleep.” He told the investigators that it was Benadryl and that he used the pills to help himself sleep while on the road, and he apparently even took “several bottles of pills” out of his luggage while being interviewed by the police. These included “pink oblong pills, round green pills, and small white pills,” and he told the investigators that one was for his heart and one was an “herbal supplement,” but he didn’t specifically identify the third—though Vulture notes that it was “presumably Benadryl.”

After taking the pills, Cosby says they began “petting,” which is what he calls “touching and kissing with clothes on,” and after that he went to bed—alone—and left her on the couch. Cosby also reportedly told a cop that he and Constand never actually had sex, and she only ever “rejected his advances” one time. Cosby also noted in his deposition that he believed Constand suffered “from a learning disability or possibly even ADD.”

No matter whose side of the story you listen to, though, it’s clear that something about their relationship disturbed Constand, who eventually quit her job and moved to Toronto. Her mother even once confronted Cosby about the alleged abuse, but he just responded by offering to pay for Constand to go to graduate school. Plus, just to further illustrate his generosity, he apparently once tried to get her a job at the William Morris Agency, which happened to be the place where Kelly Johnson—another Cosby accuser who testified earlier in the week—used to work.
