Bill Hader would love it if we could all get our shit together and save FilmStruck
Announced late last month, the upcoming November 26 death of film-streaming service FilmStruck continues to wreak havoc on the lives of movie nerds with disposable income everywhere, who had long heralded Turner Classic Movies’ entry into the streaming wars as one of the best libraries of online movies around. There is, obviously, a petition circulating on Change.org right now demanding that Warner Media save the service from, well, itself, and if you won’t sign it us, maybe you’ll do it for ol’ Bill Hader, instead?
The Barry star made his plea during an appearance at the IndieWire Honors ceremony last night, where he (along with people like Natalie Portman, Amandla Stenberg, Constance Wu, and more) was being recognized for his ongoing contributions to the world of quirky and personal art. True to form, Hader ended his speech with a heartfelt call for people to band together and save FilmStruck, calling it “my favorite thing on Earth.”
“I know there are bigger fish to fry right now in the world,” Hader acknowledged, “But in my little kingdom, if we could save FilmStruck, that would be really awesome.” So, hey: Get on it, people. Barry needs you.
