Best known for his endearingly nerdy demeanor, National Geographic somehow managed to make Bill Nye look like a grizzled badass in a photo for a feature story called “Bill Nye’s Global Meltdown.” It’s presumably supposed to represent the seriousness of climate change and how bleak the future looks if we continue destroying our planet. So naturally the internet has co-opted the photo into a funny meme. Reddit user Avemae10 first posted it with the appropriate caption, “Bill Nye looks like he’s dropping the hottest mixtape of 2015.”
From there, fans have been remixing the image to place Nye into appropriately gritty settings and/or movie posters.
