Billboard confirms Taylor Swift still very, very rich
A new report from Billboard confirms that, yes, Taylor Swift is still very, very rich. The trade publication just put out its annual list of the music industry’s top moneymakers, with Swift absolutely dominating last year’s winners Madonna and Bruce Springsteen to nab the top spot. Swift pulled in the oddly specific number of $39,699,575.60 last year, and that’s not including her merch sales, sponsorships, or branding. All those perfume royalties, Diet Coke endorsements, and $35 T-shirts could amount to another $10 million, in what is probably a conservative estimate.
Kenny Chesney came in second with an estimated $32,956,240.70, based on sales from Life On A Rock and his No Shoes Nation stadium tour. Justin Timberlake, Bon Jovi, and The Rolling Stones round out the rest of the top five.
Other acts to make the top 40 include Mumford And Sons, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and New Kids On The Block, who, at No. 29, brought in almost $10 million last year.
