Billy Eichner kind of plays the wet blanket/straight man in Netflix’s Friends From College, but over on Hulu’s Difficult People, he’s solidly in his element as a lovably loud and easily provoked actor who spends all of his time with Julie Klausner’s similarly lovable and loud character. According to a synopsis from a press release, the third season of Difficult People will see Billy getting sick of New York while Julie realizes that she can’t take her anti-depressants anymore—prompting her to try both calming meditation and hardcore hallucinogens. There’s also an official Mike Pence-branded at-home Conversion Therapy kit in this trailer, which sounds like the sort of thing Eichner would give away as a gag prize on Billy On The Street.
The new season of Difficult People premieres with three new episodes on August 8.
