Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner to star in an Amy Poehler-produced pilot
Billy On The Street and Parks And Recreation star Billy Eichner is bringing his screaming comedy stylings to yet another TV channel. Eichner is teaming up with longtime friend and Billy On The Street writer Julie Klausner to create Different People, a new scripted comedy pilot for USA. Eichner and Klausner will also star in the show, which is described as a comedy about “frustrated comedians and pop culture-loving best friends living in New York City who hate everyone—except each other.” It’s a solid premise, and one that might not actually be too far from real life, if Billy On The Street and Klausner’s podcast, How Was Your Week, are to be believed. Klausner will pen the pilot’s script.
Adding even more clout is executive producer Amy Poehler, an outspoken fan of Eichner’s who even appeared on several episodes of Billy On The Street this season. Poehler also produces Comedy Central’s Broad City, and has been writing and producing Old Soul, a Natasha Lyonne sitcom for NBC.
