Billy Eichner and Tiffany Haddish cast their Hocus Pocus remake
Billy Eichner is out here doing his part for Hollywood diversity. This week, with a little help from Tiffany Haddish, he attempted to jumpstart a reboot of the early-90s Halloween classic, Hocus Pocus, this time with a more inclusive cast. That means that instead of Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, the three principle witches will be played by none other than Eichner, Haddish, and whoever else they can find on the street.
“I’m gay, she’s black, what do you bring to the table?” Eichner repeatedly asks bewildered passersby in his signature confrontational style. Occasionally the two stumble onto an adequately diverse New Yorker willing to give them the time of day, which inevitably leads to more excited screaming of the phrase “Woke-us Pocus!” The bit itself is very entertaining, but it’s even more fun to imagine Hollywood actually going through with this reboot that would see Eichner and Haddish performing “I Put A Spell On You” with a middle-aged Columbian man there to add some “flavor.”
