Billy Eichner will be bringing his powerful vocal chords to NBC’s Hairspray Live! According to Entertainment Weekly, Eichner will be popping up in the second act as newscaster Rob Barker. Unless there’s been new material added for the live broadcast, this is not a role that requires extensive (if any) singing, but, as they say: no small parts. Eichner’s Difficult People co-star Andrea Martin is already part of the cast playing the mother of his Billy On The Street target Ariana Grande. Do you think he’ll ask her whether she’s better than eating a carrot?
The cast for the December 7 production also includes Harvey Fierstein, Jennifer Hudson, Kristin Chenoweth, and newcomer Maddie Baillio in the lead role of Tracy Turnblad. Now where’s that John Waters cameo?
