Billy Ray Cyrus to wrangle someone else’s annoying kid on upcoming 90210 episode
When you’re attending the same fictitious academic institution─California University─that once housed Saved By The Bell’s Zack Morris and A.C. Slater, it’s generally safe to anticipate a few surreal additions to your dorm life. Such is the case for 90210 CU enrollee Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord), who enters the show's fourth season in quite the pickle, or at least forced to decide on whose she prefers to nosh: only-on-TV nerd Max (Sex Drive’s Josh Zuckerman) or shorn-chested, universally acknowledged cowboy-hunk Austin (Justin Deeley).
Presumably, that decision will be rendered simpler after a one-episode appearance from Austin’s wealthy country-western star father, to be played by actual country-western star father Billy Ray Cyrus. Entertainment Weekly reports that Cyrus’ guest spot will air in November (the season kicked off last Tuesday). It's the Hannah Montana’s dad's first TV gig since ending his half-decade Disney Channel stint with daughter Miley, and also his first significant role in the wake of publicly appealing to her better senses in a controversial GQ interview. None of which, of course, has anything to do with Cyrus being cast. He was just the right Southern dad of a troublemaking teen for the job.
