Black-ish is so Raven
Here’s what’s up in the world of TV for Wednesday, May 6. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
Black-ish (ABC, 9:30 p.m): Raven-Symoné guest stars on tonight’s Black-ish as Dre’s sister Rhonda, who everyone in the family knows is gay except for her mother. Meanwhile, Zoey tries to teach Junior how to improve his gaydar, which could potentially veer into some problematic territory, but we’ll hope for the best. Let’s focus on the inherently positive: Raven-Symoné on our televisions again after her very brief appearance on Empire earlier this year. And if nothing else, Jack and Diane are bound to be adorable in this episode as they compete to give Bow the best Mother’s Day presents.
Regular coverage
The Middle (ABC, 8 p.m.) / The Goldbergs (ABC, 8:30 p.m.)
Survivor (CBS, 8 p.m.)
Arrow (The CW, 8 p.m.)
Modern Family (ABC, 9 p.m)
Big Time In Hollywood, FL (Comedy Central, 10:30 p.m.)
Elsewhere in TV Club
Are you finished with Daredevil yet? If not, what’s taking you so long? If so, check out Caroline Siede’s For Our Consideration about the show’s themes of masculinity.
TV Club Classic
Lost (Classic) (1 p.m.): It’s time for the Kate-centric “Left Behind,” directed by the wonderful Karen Gaviola. Don’t get left behind on TV Club Classic coverage of Lost! (Sorry.)
What else is on?
American Idol (Fox, 8 p.m.): The top three perform on Idol tonight, and someone goes home! We don’t care who it is so long as it’s not Jax Cole. Anyone but Jax. It’s almost time to crown the next American Idol, but we all know the true national hero is Jennifer Lopez.
Supernatural (The CW, 9 p.m.): The latest killer to draw Sam and Dean’s attention has the same tattoo as members of the Styne family. Maybe it’s a coincidence and everyone on this show just goes to the same tattoo parlor and picks the same thing. But we’re sure Sam and Dean have a supernatural explanation. Elsewhere, Castiel plays referee for Charlie and Rowena.
Nashville (ABC, 10 p.m.): Christina Aguilera Watch: It looks like Jade St. John will not be in tonight’s episode of Nashville. But Will has tabloid drama and Deacon and Rayna have their usual drama as well.
CSI: Cyber (CBS, 10 p.m.): The lesson of “Click Your Poison” (the real title of tonight’s episode) appears to be: Don’t use WebMD because it will literally kill you.
I Am Legend (AMC, 8 p.m.): Let us all take a moment of silence for Jaden Smith’s Twitter account. May all those beautiful stream-of-conscience thoughts that seemed to defy space, time, reality, and capitalization rules rest in peace. Jaden Smith is not in I Am Legend, but his father Will and sister Willow are.
Terminator Salvation (AMC, 10 p.m.): Friends don’t let friends watch Terminator Salvation, but if you’re looking to get revenge on someone you hate, tell them to tune into AMC at 10 p.m.
Marvel’s The Avengers (FX, 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.): FX is running back-to-back screenings of the first Avengers film. Pros: There’s no hackneyed, out-of-nowhere romantic plot between Bruce and Natasha. Cons: There’s no Elizabeth Olsen.
Sports, sports, all type of sports
MLB Baseball: Orioles at Mets (ESPN, 7 p.m.)
Stanley Cup Playoff: Game 4: Rangers at Capitals (NBC Sports, 7:30 p.m.)
Stanley Cup Playoff: Game 3: Canadiens at Lightning (USA, 7 p.m.)
NBA Playoff: Game 2: Bulls at Cavaliers (TNT, 7 p.m.)
NBA Playoff: Game 2: Clippers at Rockets (TNT, 9:30 p.m.)
WWE NXT (WWE Network, 8 p.m.)
In case you missed it
Inside Amy Schumer: Last night’s nearly-Schumer-less Inside Amy Schumer was next-level smart, and Kate Knibbs will tell you why!
