In the trailer for The Shallows, Blake Lively wakes up on a slab of rock in some ocean with half of her wetsuit missing and a cut on her leg. We see that she’s really not that far from shore, so she should be able to swim that distance even with her injured leg. And she’ll have to make a move soon, because she doesn’t have any packages to open to provide her with a distraction and/or something to eat. Unfortunately, she’s not alone in the shallows—this castaway has a shark to keep her company in place of a volleyball. Did we say “keep her company”? We meant “hang around to eat her/finish the job.”
The Shallows (originally Into The Deep) was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who has of late been focused on a different kind of killing machine. The film hits theaters June 24.
